GCZMA inspects alleged large-scale Mangrove destruction along Moira Riverbank
Goa, June 12 -- Fresh concerns over large-scale mangrove destruction along the Moira riverbank prompted officials of the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) to conduct a fresh site inspection in the presence of complainant Dr Nerissa Miranda and local environmental activists. The inspection was carried out by GCZMA Expert Member Harshada Gauns, Engineer Bhargavi Kelkar, and Field Surveyor Siddhi Morajkar following complaints of extensive mangrove cutting in the area.Speaking at the site, Dr Nerissa Miranda said she had witnessed mangrove cutting and stressed the urgent need for protection of coastal ecosystems.
