Goa, July 21 -- Former St. Cruz Sarpanch Mariano Araujo has questioned the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a proposal involving land earmarked as a public open space.

Araujo sought an explanation from the present Sarpanch, Jenifer Oliveira, over the decision to grant the NOC for land designated for public use, raising concerns about its implications.

He maintained that land reserved as a public open space should be protected and sought clarity on the basis for issuing the certificate.

The issue has sparked fresh debate over the use of public spaces and the procedures followed in granting approvals for development proposals in the village.
