Goa, Oct. 12 -- Former sarpanch of the Arpora-Nagoa Village Panchayat, Roshan Redkar, has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Redkar submitted his resignation at the party headquarters.

His resignation comes weeks after he was granted bail by a Mapusa court in connection with the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub fire case, which claimed 25 lives. Redkar, who was disqualified as sarpanch following the incident, had earlier surrendered before the court after his anticipatory bail pleas were rejected by lower courts and the Bombay High Court at Goa.
