Goa, May 14 -- A fire broke out at a locked house near Noorani Masjid in New Vaddem after an electric iron that was reportedly left switched on ignited clothes kept inside the residence.

According to sources, local residents noticed smoke emerging from the house and immediately alerted patrolling police personnel in the area.

Police, along with locals, reportedly forced open the door of the house to gain access and prevent the fire from spreading further. The flames were subsequently brought under control using buckets of water before the situation could escalate into a major incident.
