India, March 30 -- In a major administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the Election Commission on Sunday ordered the transfer of officers-in-charge (OCs) and inspectors-in-charge (ICs) from 173 police stations across West Bengal, officials confirmed.
The move, aimed at ensuring free and fair elections, includes the transfer of 31 officers serving under the Kolkata Police jurisdiction. Key constituencies such as Bhabanipur in Kolkata and Nandigram in Purba Medinipur district have also been impacted by the changes.
