Goa, May 30 -- TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee was attacked during a visit to Sonarpur in West Bengal on Saturday, where he had gone to meet families affected by alleged post-poll violence. According to reports, protesters threw eggs and stones at Banerjee while raising slogans against him, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.

Visuals from the scene showed security personnel surrounding the TMC leader and escorting him to safety. Banerjee was seen wearing a helmet as security forces attempted to shield him from the attack.
