Delhi Government Introduces Weekly 'No Car Day' for Officials to Cut Fuel Consumption
Goa, May 14 -- The Delhi Government has introduced a series of fuel-saving measures for government officials, including a mandatory weekly "No Car Day", in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to reduce petroleum consumption across the country.
The new directives have been issued by the Public Works Department, Delhi Jal Board and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department as part of an 11-point action plan aimed at promoting sustainable transport and energy conservation.
Under the new policy, officials and employees have been instructed to minimise the use of government vehicles and instead rely on public transport, electric vehicles and pooled transportation systems wherever possible.
