MARGAO, Sept. 17 -- Goa BJP president Damu Naik has criticised Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral over his recent remarks concerning the party, saying they may have been made out of "political insecurity".

Naik recalled that Cabral was associated with the Congress in 2011 before joining the BJP and receiving the party ticket to contest the Curchorem Assembly seat. Cabral subsequently won the constituency on a BJP ticket in 2012, 2017 and 2022.

Naik also pointed out that Cabral had been given ministerial responsibilities and is currently a member of the BJP's Core Committee.
