Goa, Aug. 11 -- The butterfly garden located in front of the Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council has allegedly become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, raising concerns over the risk of dengue and malaria in the area.

Mosquito larvae were reportedly found in water stored in a tank inside the garden. Stagnant and foul-smelling water was also noticed in the carrier of a municipal council truck parked on the premises, further raising concerns about potential mosquito breeding spots.

The issue has assumed significance amid a reported rise in dengue cases in the area. Residents have expressed particular concern over the proximity of the garden to a children's play area, which is frequently used by youngsters.
