Goa, May 9 -- Colva Police have registered a case against a 28-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly cheating a woman through a fake identity on Instagram. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly gained the woman's trust and convinced her to transfer nearly Rs 4 lakh over time. Police said he also allegedly took a gold chain and ring belonging to the complainant's deceased mother on the pretext of rituals and marriage preparations. The accused is further alleged to have established a physical relationship with the woman by promising marriage. A case has been registered under Sections 69, 316 and 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
