Goa, Nov. 3 -- Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the Central and Goa governments would pursue separate legal challenges in support of political reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Goa ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Sawant said a delegation comprising Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, Narendra Sawaikar and other representatives had held a meeting in Delhi with the Solicitor General's office. The meeting was attended by the Assistant Solicitor General and officials from the Law Department.

Following the discussions, it was decided that the Government of India would challenge the decision, while the Goa Government would file a separate intervention application, the Chief Minister said.
