Goa, May 19 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, founder of Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC), for his alleged involvement in the NEET UG paper leak case, officials said.

Motegaonkar, whose coaching institute operates nine branches including its main centre in Latur, Maharashtra, was taken into custody on Sunday evening following searches conducted by the agency at his premises.

According to officials, the CBI recovered a leaked copy of the NEET UG examination paper held on May 3 from Motegaonkar's mobile phone during the searches. The development is being viewed as a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination.
