Canacona Records Highest Rainfall in Goa as Active Monsoon Batters State
PANAJI, June 23 -- Active monsoon conditions continued to lash Goa, with Canacona recording the highest rainfall in the state over a 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on June 23, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Goa Centre.
Canacona received a massive 192 mm of rainfall, taking its cumulative seasonal total since June 1 to 660.2 mm, the highest recorded in the state so far this monsoon season.
Several other areas also witnessed heavy rainfall. Mapusa recorded 131.2 mm, followed by Quepem with 130 mm and Sanguem with 120.2 mm. Margao received 111.5 mm of rain, while Pernem recorded 90.2 mm during the same period.
