Goa, April 7 -- The Bombay High Court has directed authorities to remove a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that was allegedly erected without permission on land belonging to the Mormugao Port Authority at Headland Sada.
The court instructed officials to carry out the removal while ensuring that proper procedures are followed. It also directed the South Goa Superintendent of Police to provide adequate security during the process to maintain law and order.
In addition, the court allowed the petitioner to implead Sankalp Amonkar as a party in the case and issued him a notice.
The matter has been posted for further hearing on May 4, when the court is expected to take up additional considerations and issue further directions.
