Asian Games 2026 opening ceremony begins in Japan as Manu Bhaker and Pawan Sehrawat lead India
Goa, Sept. 19 -- The 20th Asian Games officially opened in Nagoya, Japan, on Saturday, September 19, with India's contingent joining athletes from across the continent at the opening ceremony.
The Indian contingent was led by Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and kabaddi star Pawan Sehrawat, who carried the Indian flag during the ceremony at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. Sehrawat was named the male flag-bearer after shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor was unable to attend the ceremony because he did not receive his official ceremonial kit.
