Goa, April 10 -- Anusha Lamani has resigned from the post of Sarpanch of the Sancaole Panchayat ahead of a special meeting scheduled on Monday to consider a no-confidence motion against her and Deputy Sarpanch Derek Vales.

The resignation comes just days before the proposed meeting, where members were set to deliberate on the motion seeking their removal. While the reasons behind Lamani's decision have not been officially detailed, the development is expected to impact the proceedings of the no-confidence motion.

Sources indicate that the special meeting will still address the situation concerning the Deputy Sarpanch, even as the panchayat prepares for the next course of action following the resignation.
