Ammonia Gas Leak at Tamil Nadu Seafood Export Unit Claims Two Lives, Over 46 Hospitalised
Thiruvallur, June 22 -- At least two migrant labourers have died and several others remain in critical condition following an ammonia gas leak at a seafood export facility in Tamil Nadu's Thiruvallur district on Sunday.
The incident occurred at the St Peter's and Paul Seafoods Exports unit located in Kannigaipair near Periyapalayam. According to officials, more than 46 workers were exposed to the leaked gas and have been admitted to hospitals for treatment. Five of them are reported to be in critical condition.
Most of the affected workers are migrant labourers from northern Indian states. Following the leak, workers complained of breathing difficulties, dizziness, and vomiting. Emergency services rushed the victims to nearby hospitals,...
