India, March 19 -- The arrest of an American national in India has opened up significant leads in an ongoing high-level investigation involving national security concerns. Matthew VanDyke was among seven foreign nationals apprehended earlier this week in connection with an alleged conspiracy targeting India.

According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the accused had illegally crossed into Myanmar through India with the intent of training ethnic armed groups in the neighbouring country, as well as certain banned organisations operating within India.
