Goa, July 8 -- A major runway incident was narrowly averted at Mumbai Airport after Air Traffic Control (ATC) instructed an Air India flight bound for Delhi to abort its take-off due to the presence of another aircraft on the runway.

According to reports, an Air India Express aircraft was still on the runway after landing when the departing Air India flight was preparing for take-off. ATC immediately directed the crew to reject the take-off in accordance with safety protocols.

The flight crew complied with the instruction, safely aborting the take-off and returning the aircraft to the bay, where it underwent mandatory safety inspections before further operations.
