Goa, June 17 -- Large-scale tree felling at Kakumoddi in Curchorem has triggered protests from environmental activists and local residents, who fear the impact on the region's ecology.

Activists have questioned the government's environmental policies, alleging a contradiction between promoting tree plantation drives and permitting extensive tree cutting.

Environmentalists Usha Naik and Vishal have voiced concern over the loss of green cover and called for greater accountability in development planning.
