At 72, veteran statue maker Damodar Govind Narvekar continues to keep Goa's rich cultural traditions alive through his lifelong dedication to Konkani tiatr, Marathi natak and the making of eco-friendly Ganesh idols. Living near Chowgule College, Fatorda, Narvekar has become a familiar and respected name among theatre groups and Ganesh devotees across Goa.

Narvekar's artistic journey began in 1974 when he received formal training in statue making. Two years later, in 1976, he started crafting Ganesh idols, a tradition he has continued without interruption for five decades.
