81-Year-Old Ribandar Man Loses Rs.6.05 Lakh in Bank Impersonation Scam
Goa, Aug. 31 -- An 81-year-old retired man from Ribandar was allegedly cheated of Rs.6.05 lakh after a fraudster posing as a Bank of India representative contacted him with an offer of discounts on medical expenses.
According to the complaint, the unknown caller claimed that the victim could avail of 20-30% discounts at medical stores and private hospitals. The accused allegedly sent a form to the elderly man via WhatsApp and persuaded him to provide his bank details and other credentials.
The fraudster subsequently allegedly used the information to carry out unauthorised transactions from the victim's bank account, resulting in a loss of Rs.6.05 lakh.
