42 Retired Judges Warn Against Attempts to Undermine Election Commission, Constitutional Institutions
Goa, Oct. 9 -- A group of 42 retired judges has issued a strongly worded open letter expressing concern over what they described as a sustained campaign to undermine the Election Commission of India, the judiciary and other constitutional institutions.
The letter comes amid widespread Opposition protests targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the ongoing revision of electoral rolls.
The retired judges warned that efforts to erode public confidence in constitutional authorities could weaken faith in democratic institutions. They cautioned that when citizens lose confidence in the electoral process, the consequences could extend beyond political debate.
