India, March 8 -- Police on Sunday recovered the body of a 26-year-old married woman hanging from a tree near a canal in the Munjesh Nagar area. The body was partially submerged in water when it was found.

Authorities said the incident took place near the Munjesh Nagar crossing. The Kurebhar police station received a call early in the morning informing officers that a woman had allegedly died by hanging near the canal.Circle Officer Ashutosh Kumar said a police team rushed to the location after receiving the information. At the spot, officers found the woman hanging from a tree with a noose made from her saree. According to officials, nearly half of her body was in the canal water.
