21 DEAD IN DELHI HOTEL INFERNO
Goa, June 4 -- At least 21 people, including 11 for eign nationals, were killed and dozens injured after a devastating fire ripped through a hotel operating without a mandatory fire safety clearance in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area on Wednesday, exposing a web of alleged violations that officials said turned the building into a deadly trap. The blaze broke out around 8.30 am at the Flourish Stay B&B in the congested Hauz Rani local ity and rapidly engulfed the five-storey structure. Fire officials said the building had only a single entry-exit point, permanently sealed windows and a sensor-op erated main door, severely restricting escape routes for those trapped inside.
