Goa, July 8 -- Heavy rainfall triggered a major building collapse at a legacy waste dumping yard in Pune's Pimpri Chinchwad on Wednesday, leaving at least 16 people feared trapped beneath the debris. Officials said a massive mound of legacy waste became unstable after days of continuous rain and slid onto an administrative building used by a private company managing waste for the civic body.

Around 20 employees were reportedly inside the building when the incident occurred. Four managed to escape safely, while rescue teams believe the remaining 16 are trapped inside. Authorities said contact has been established with some of those trapped, raising hopes of a successful rescue.
