Goa, Aug. 15 -- A 13-year investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a seven-year-old schoolgirl in Mormugao taluka has ended after the Children's Court accepted the CBI's closure report without any accused being identified. The incident occurred on January 14, 2013, when the child was allegedly assaulted inside a school toilet. The case was initially investigated by local police and later the Crime Branch before being transferred to the CBI. Investigators questioned suspects and witnesses, conducted DNA tests and identification parades, and compared fingerprints, but could not conclusively establish the alleged offender's identity. The probe, reopened after objections from the victim's family, has now formally concluded.
