Goa, Aug. 25 -- Velim AAP MLA Cruz Silva has warned of a street protest if a joint meeting is not convened and the demand to divert the NH66 expansion outside Dandewado-Chinchinim is not resolved.

All concerned sarpanchas and panchayat members met Silva to discuss the issue. The MLA said the government had agreed to the highway diversion before 2010 and urged the authorities to honour the earlier decision in order to protect the people, homes and properties of Dandewado-Chinchinim.

Silva said the residents were not opposed to development but wanted their concerns to be addressed before the highway expansion proceeds through the area.

"We are not against development. We are against development at the cost of our people," Silva said.
