Goa, June 12 -- Villagers and supporters opposing the proposed Karapur project staged a protest in Panjim on Friday, surprising authorities by changing their demonstration venue at the last moment as part of the ongoing "Save Karapur" movement.

The protesters had initially announced that they would assemble at the Directorate of Panchayats. Anticipating a large gathering, police deployed significant personnel and security arrangements at the location.

However, in an unexpected move, the demonstrators bypassed the Directorate of Panchayats and marched directly to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) office, catching the authorities off guard and rendering the earlier security deployment ineffective.
