Goa, July 11 -- The Joint Committee on One Nation, One Election (ONOE) has claimed overwhelming public support for the proposal following consultations conducted across nine states, including Goa. Committee chairperson P.P. Choudhary said nearly 99% of the responses received during the outreach exercise favoured the initiative. He asserted that the proposed legislation is intended to strengthen India's electoral system and serve the interests of citizens, rather than benefit any political party. The committee is currently gathering public feedback as part of its nationwide consultation process before finalising its recommendations on the proposed bill.
