Panaji, Oct. 7 -- The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has informed the High Court that a substantial portion of the allegedly illegal shed at Sada, popularly known as 'Murgao Cha Raja', has been demolished.

The statement was made during the hearing of a related contempt petition filed by the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA).

The High Court, while taking note of the MMC's submission on Monday, granted the civic body two days to complete the remaining demolition work.

The contempt petition relates to the continued existence of the structure despite directions concerning its removal. The court is expected to take up the matter again after the additional time granted to the MMC expires.
