Goa, Aug. 25 -- Former Mumbai Under-19 cricketer Anaya Bangar has received clearance from Cricket Australia to participate in women's Community Cricket, marking an important step in her return to competitive cricket.

Bangar, who underwent gender-affirming surgery in March 2026, said the decision was particularly meaningful after a period in which she feared she might never be able to play the sport again.

"It is a great day for me, especially after knowing the fact that I can play cricket," Bangar told The Indian Express. She said there had been a point when she believed her cricketing career was over, but Cricket Australia's decision had given her another opportunity to return to the game.
