Goa, Aug. 11 -- Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has given a measured response to questions over whether he will remain in charge through the 2027 ODI World Cup, saying, "For now, I am the captain."

Afridi's comments come amid reports that former captain Babar Azam could eventually return to a leadership role across formats. Pakistan have frequently changed captains in recent years, with Afridi's own ODI tenure coming under scrutiny despite his appointment last year.

Speaking at a press conference alongside captains of the National Champions Cup teams, Afridi was asked whether the Pakistan Cricket Board had confirmed that he would lead the side until the 2027 World Cup.
