'Dogs cannot be arbitrarily relocated': DSPCA challenges Goa Tourism notice
Goa, Oct. 13 -- The District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA), North Goa, has urged the Tourism Department to withdraw its notice inviting adoption of beach dogs and proposing relocation of unadopted animals to shelters. In a letter dated October 12, DSPCA argued that the department lacks statutory authority to order dog relocation and that the proposal conflicts with the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023. It said community dogs captured for sterilisation and vaccination must be returned to their original territories.
