India, Feb. 24 -- Sharp criticism has been levelled against PWD Minister Digambar Kamat over an event organised to mark the commencement of repair works at identified road "black spots."

In a statement, Madganvcho Awaaz and youth leader Prabhav Naik said that black spots represent tragic locations where innocent lives have been lost due to dangerous road conditions.

"It is deeply unfortunate that an MLA-turned-PWD Minister is choosing to organise ceremonial events to 'commence' repair works at these deadly stretches," Naik remarked, questioning the need for formal functions at sites associated with fatal accidents.
