India, May 18 -- Global health data for 2022 reveals a stark divide in the survival rates of newborns across different continents during their first month of life.

Crisis in High-Burden Nations India faced the most severe burden, recording 417,860 neonatal deaths within the first month of life. Nigeria followed with 274,498 deaths, while Pakistan reported 248,869. Other nations crossing the six-figure mark included Ethiopia with 106,535 deaths and the Democratic Republic of the Congo with 106,318. In South Asia, Bangladesh and Afghanistan also reported high figures of 51,988 and 51,315 respectively.
