India, May 18 -- Global efforts to improve neonatal health have resulted in a significant downward trend in infant mortality across the world since the turn of the century.
Female Mortality Reduction
In 2000, the world recorded 50 female infant deaths per 1,000 live births. This rate declined to 38.8 by 2007 and continued to fall over the subsequent years., By 2015, the rate improved to 29.7, eventually reaching a low of 25.6 in 2022.,
Male Mortality Trends
Male mortality followed a similar trajectory, starting at a higher rate of 55.9 in 2000. The rate decreased to 45.5 by 2006 as healthcare outcomes improved globally. Continued progress brought the figure down to 34.1 in 2015 and finally to 30.1 by the end of 2022.,
