In 1990, the country recorded 78,434 deaths. This figure saw minor fluctuations in the following years, reaching a relative low of 74,090 in 1992. By the turn of the millennium in 2000, the annual count remained stable at 78,814.
Steady Mid-Period Growth
The decade between 2000 and 2010 marked a period of consistent increases in annual fatalities. Chile reached a significant milestone in 2007:
