India, June 15 -- Long term demographic trends from the World Development Indicators reveal a transformative journey for the public health of Cameroon over the last sixty years. The nation has moved from a life expectancy of 34.667 years in 1960 to its current peak in 2023.

Early Gains and the Fifty Year Milestone The initial decades following 1960 were defined by rapid improvement. By 1962, the figure jumped to 42.599 years, representing a significant early leap in longevity. Progress continued steadily through the following years: * 1970 expectancy stood at 47.954 years. * 1976 marked the first time the average exceeded 50 years at 50.017. * 1989 saw a high of 54.389 years before the start of a period of stagnation.
