India, June 4 -- Benin has recorded a sustained decline in its deaths rate over the past six decades, with the number of deaths per 1,000 people falling significantly between 1960 and 2023, according to World Development Indicators data.
Long-Term Downward Trend
The deaths rate in Benin stood at 28.056 deaths per 1,000 persons in 1960. Over the following decades, the indicator showed a consistent downward trajectory, reflecting a gradual reduction in mortality levels across the country.
By 1980, the rate had fallen to below 20 deaths per 1,000 persons, continuing a pattern of steady improvement that persisted through subsequent decades.
