India, June 4 -- Life expectancy in Bangladesh has shown a sustained upward trajectory over the past six decades, with the latest data indicating that people are living significantly longer than they did in the early 1960s.
Six-Decade Rise
The country's life expectancy stood at 43.98 years in 1960. Over the following decades, the indicator recorded steady gains, crossing 50 years in the 1970s and continuing to rise through the 1980s and 1990s. By 2000, life expectancy had reached 65.32 years.
Progress Through the 2010s
