Crossing the 70-Year Threshold In 1960, life expectancy in Austria was 68.59 years. The country surpassed the 70-year mark for the first time in 1966, reaching 70.05 years. While the 1970 figure stood at 69.91 years, the upward trend resumed shortly after, hitting 71.01 years by 1973.

Late Century Expansion The following decades maintained a positive growth rate as evidenced by the historical data. * The 1980 recording was 72.46 years. * By 1990, the average lifespan rose to 75.57 years. * The millennium closed with 78.13 years in 2000.
