Even Dehradun, which is a valley in the foothills of the Himalayas that has India's two major rivers flowing through it, suffers from supply problems. Rapid and unplanned urbanisation has become an obstacle to groundwater recharge. Every city has similar, yet differing scenarios to contend with.
