Mussoorie, July 23 -- Persistent rainfall in Mussoorie has once again exposed the serious consequences of unplanned construction and poor debris management in the hilly terrain.

An incident late Sunday night in the JP Bend area has left locals terrified. A massive surge of debris flowing down from the hillside crashed directly into PWD residential quarters. Rooms were filled with soil and stones, household belongings were destroyed, and a family of seven narrowly escaped death. Most residents were asleep when, amidst heavy rain, a sudden, rapid flow of debris began cascading down the hill. Within moments, soil, stones, and boulders reached the PWD quarters.
