Liberia: S. Leone-Based Dutch Fugitive Believed to be at Center of US$19 Million Drug Bust
Liberia, June 17 -- When authorities in Liberia unraveled a US$19 million drug bust at the Roberts International Airport last week, echoes of a familiar refrain ricochet across West Africa, a still fragile region that has experienced civil wars and unrest in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
The 198 compressed plates of cocaine, weighing 237.6 kilograms, were concealed in cargo boxes. The narcotics were prepared for exportation to Europe via a Brussels Airlines flight operations route.
