Monrovia, March 13 -- Armed police officers on Friday barricaded the home of economist Samuel Jackson, sparking anger from Jackson and members of his family.

Earlier Friday morning, Mr. Jackson announced on his Facebook page that his wife was taken to the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital after she went semi-unconscious. Later he posted that his wife "didn't make it."

Later in the evening, police officers were seen stationed outside Jackson's compound. Authorities have not publicly explained why officers were deployed to the residence.
