Liberia, July 16 -- In a season when Liberians pause to remember the birth of their Republic, one of Grand Bassa County's most illustrious sons has chosen to mark the nation's 179th Independence Day not with speeches but with substance, as the Emmanuel Nuku Reeves Foundation rolls out 200 bags of 25-kilogram rice and 200 gallons of vegetable oil to the county's visually impaired, its elderly, and its most disadvantaged citizens.

The exercise, which the Foundation says will soon extend into rural Rivercess, Sinoe, Grand Gedeh, and the wider southeast, is being hailed across the county as the truest measure of a man whose generosity has long outrun his desire for recognition.
