Liberia: House Backs Closure of GLS Menzies, Wants Drug Probe Persons of Interest Treated as Suspects
Liberia, June 25 -- The House of Representatives has passed a resolution calling for the immediate closure of GLS Menzies and all businesses allegedly linked to the reported US$19 million drug trafficking case, escalating legislative pressure for stronger action against those connected to the ongoing investigation.
The resolution, unanimously adopted by all 37 lawmakers present during the session, also directs that individuals previously designated as "persons of interest" in the investigation be treated as suspects in accordance with Liberia's amended Controlled Drugs and Substances Law, particularly Section 8.5 and relevant provisions under Section 14.
