MONROVIA, Aug. 25 -- Former Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has been transferred to the Monrovia Central Prison after the Monrovia City Court denied a request by her lawyers to allow her to remain hospitalized while facing trial in connection with Liberia's ongoing multimillion-dollar drug trafficking investigation.

Taylor will remain in custody at the prison as the legal proceedings against her continue.

Her defense team filed a motion on Tuesday seeking an extension of her hospital stay following her admission for medical treatment after she reportedly fell ill while in police custody.
