COLOMBO, Sept. 28 -- The Sri Lanka India Society celebrated India's 80th Independence Day with a dinner at the Taj Hotel in Colombo on Sunday (27), highlighting the longstanding friendship and cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.

The event was attended by Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Co-operative Development as Chief Guest, and Sanjeev Arora, Counsellor (Consular), Indian High Commission, as Guest of Honour, along with other distinguished guests.

Welcoming the gathering, Sri Lanka India Society President S. Renganathan reflected on India's achievements since independence and the enduring bonds between the two countries, rooted in shared history, culture and spiritual traditions.
